These pieces exhibit one of Thurston\u2019s eight model geometries.\u00a0\u00a0This gives rise to the natural question: Given a 3-manifold how (quickly) can you determine its geometry?\u00a0\u00a0We will discuss this question, including some recent advances.\u00a0\u00a0This is joint work with Neil Hoffman.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<hr \/>\n<div>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>My research interests are in number theory and topology.
