Interestingly, approval voting can be viewed as an extreme end of a one-parameter family of voting procedures we are calling p-norm approval voting. In this talk, I\u2019ll explain how we were led to start studying p-norm approval voting, and I\u2019ll share some of the many properties we\u2019ve discovered about it so far. This is joint work with Hari Nathan, Katharine Shultis, and Jessica Sorrells.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<div>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Michael Orrison is a Professor of Mathematics at Harvey Mudd College. He received his A.B. from Wabash College in 1995, and his Ph.D. from Dartmouth College in 2001. His teaching interests include linear algebra, abstract algebra, discrete mathematics, and representation theory. His research interests include voting theory and harmonic analysis on finite groups.
