An organizational meeting for this semester’s “Number Theory Learning Seminar will take place on Thursday September 3 at 4:00 PM in CGU\u2019s Burkle Hall, Room 24.<\/p>\n

The Seminar is geared for graduate students, undergraduates, and faculty to learn about topics in number theory which are not typically covered in traditional classes. The volunteers will take turns presenting one preselected paper within the allocated 60 minutes. These papers are relatively short \u2014 averaging less than 10 pages in length \u2014 and cover some results known mainly to researchers in the field, such as Newman\u2019s proof of the Prime Number Theorem, Bhargava\u2019s proof of the 15 Theorem, and Elkies\u2019s counterexample to a conjecture of Euler. Prior knowledge of number theory is not required to understand the topics we will discuss. Seminar attendees are not required to participate in presentations, but all are encouraged.<\/p>\n
