{"id":449,"date":"2018-08-21T22:14:51","date_gmt":"2018-08-22T05:14:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/colleges.claremont.edu\/ccms\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=449"},"modified":"2018-09-26T10:41:21","modified_gmt":"2018-09-26T17:41:21","slug":"tba-3","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/colleges.claremont.edu\/ccms\/event\/tba-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Inversions for reduced words (Sami Assaf, USC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The number of inversions of a permutation is an important statistic that arises in many contexts, including as the minimum number of simple transpositions needed to express the permutation and, equivalently, as the rank function for weak Bruhat order on the symmetric group. In this talk, I\u2019ll describe an analogous statistic on the reduced expressions for a given permutation that turns the Coxeter graph into a ranked poset with unique maximal element.
