RSS: “Unmaking/Remaking Memory Work: Building a Community-Centered Digital Archive (William Camargo and Marisa Hicks-Alcaraz)

January 30 @ 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm

In the last decade, new community-centered digital archiving initiatives have grown immensely in recognition that traditionally ignored communities should have a role in how their histories get told. In this workshop, CGU MFA student and founder of @latinx_diaspora_archives, William Camargo, and CGU PhD student and co-founder of the Latinx digital archiving collective ImaginX en Movimiento (IXeM), Marisa Hicks-Alcaraz, will share their experiences building community-oriented digital archives. With the tools and strategies outlined in this workshop, we hope attendees will leave with new ideas for implementing community-engaged and justice-based recuperation methods in their own research and teaching.
