There are additionally many affiliated faculty across the Colleges who teach and do research in feminist, gender, and sexuality studies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scrippscollege.edu\/academics\/faculty\/profile\/piya-chatterjee\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-17 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/colleges.claremont.edu\/ifc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2016\/06\/Piya-Chatterjee-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Piya Chatterjee\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scrippscollege.edu\/academics\/faculty\/profile\/piya-chatterjee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Piya Chatterjee<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Dorothy Cruickshank Backstrand Chair of Gender and Women&#8217;s Studies<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Scripps College<\/strong><br \/>\nPiya Chatterjee is a historical anthropologist by training.\u00a0She is interested women&#8217;s labor, colonial and post-colonial history, and feminist ethnographic writing and\u00a0is currently involved with a Paulo Freire inspired, anti-violence political literacy project led by rural women in eastern India which has been funded by the Global Fund for Women.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scrippscollege.edu\/academics\/faculty\/profile\/jih-fei-cheng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jih-Fei Cheng<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scrippscollege.edu\/academics\/faculty\/profile\/jih-fei-cheng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-15 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/colleges.claremont.edu\/ifc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2016\/06\/Jih-Fei-Cheng-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Jih-Fei Cheng\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nAssociate Professor of Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Scripps College<br \/>\n<\/strong>Jih-Fei Cheng&#8217;s research examines the intersections between science, technology, media representations, and social movements. He utilizes interdisciplinary feminist and queer of color approaches, including visual, textual, and historical methods, to study activist uses of media to document, mobilize action, and leverage the survival chances of communities made vulnerable to illness through systemized health and economic disparities.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-569\" src=\"https:\/\/colleges.claremont.edu\/ifc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2016\/06\/Aimee-Bahng-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Portrait of Aimee Bahng\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pomona.edu\/directory\/people\/aimee-bahng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aimee Bahng<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Associate Professor of Gender and Women&#8217;s Studies; Coordinator of Gender and Women&#8217;s Studies; Coordinator for American Studies,<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Pomona College<\/strong><br \/>\nAimee is the author of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dukeupress.edu\/migrant-futures\/\">Migrant Futures: Decolonizing Speculation in Financial Times<\/a><\/em>\u00a0(Duke University Press, 2018) and co-editor of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/muse.jhu.edu\/issue\/35773\">\u201cTranspacific Futurities\u201d<\/a>\u00a0special issue of\u00a0<em>Journal of Asian American Studies<\/em>\u00a0(2017). She has published articles on transnational Asian\/American speculative fiction and financialization in\u00a0<em>Journal of American Studies<\/em>\u00a0(2015)<em>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rutgersuniversitypress.org\/techno-orientalism\/9780813570655\/\">Techno-Orientalism<\/a><\/em>\u00a0(Rutgers University Press, 2015), and\u00a0<em>MELUS: Multi-Ethnic Literatures of the U.S.<\/em> (2008).\u00a0Her second book project,\u00a0<em>Transpacific Ecologies<\/em>, is currently underway, bringing decolonial, queer and feminist thought to bear on the environment, knowledge production, and dis\/ability at the site of the Pacific Ocean, which has long served as a proving ground for scientific experimentation and biopolitical securitization. Aimee\u00a0is also writing a number of articles about science fiction writer Octavia Butler, whose papers are held at the Huntington Library in San Marino. One essay, titled \u201cPlasmodial Improprieties: Octavia E. Butler, Slime Molds, and Imagining a Femi-Queer Commons,\u201d appears in the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/uwpress\/search\/books\/CIPQUE.html\">Queer Feminist Science Studies Reader<\/a><\/em> (University of Washington Press, 2017). Aimee has also published an article co-authored by Reena Goldthree in <em>Radical Teacher\u00a0<\/em>on \u201c#BlackLivesMatter and Feminist Pedagogy.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"title-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"inner-wrapper\">\n<div data-quickedit-field-id=\"node\/63826\/title\/und\/full\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pomona.edu\/directory\/people\/esther-hernandez-medina\">Esther Hern\u00e1ndez-Medina<\/a><\/strong> Assistant Professor of Latin American Studies and Gender and Women\u2019s Studies (GWS, Pomona).\u00a0 Esther is a feminist academic, public policy expert and activist from the Dominican Republic, with a particular interest in how historically marginalized groups such as women, racial, ethnic and sexual minorities are able (if at all) to change and influence public policy in their favor. She has done research on this topic in Mexico, Brazil and her own country by looking at citizen participation in urban policies in S\u00e3o Paulo and Mexico City, the history of and recent achievements by the Dominican feminist movement, and the participatory budgeting model in the Dominican Republic and S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"highlighted-wrapper\">\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pitzer.edu\/faculty-staff-directory\/tahereh-aghdasifar\"><strong>Tahereh Aghdasifar<\/strong><\/a> is Assistant Professor of Gender &amp; Feminist Studies (GFS, Pitzer). She specializes in queer of color critique, political economy, and performance studies to focus on questions of sociality and opacity. Her current book project develops a theory of refraction reading anti-representational aesthetics of dispossession and displacement to build a collective materialist politics.
