SUMMARY:Pop-up Course - Reimagine the Digital Toolshed
DESCRIPTION:The Rick and Susan Sontag Center\, aka the Hive\, will be hosting its first pop-up class – “Reimagining the Digital Toolshed”. In the pop-up class\, student teams will work on a hands-on project with the Honnold-Mudd Library to reimagine how students will utilize a space dedicated to digital tools (anything ranging from GPS devices to media creation software. The Pop-up class will consist of 3 sessions: two 2-hour sessions and one 3-hour session. During the sessions\, student teams will undertake the challenge by delving into the design process with guidance from instructors and coaches.Students will use empathetic listening techniques to understand more about the needs of potential users\, develop a user-informed perspective on what the digital toolshed in order to meet user needs\, brainstorm concrete ways in which it can be realized. Then the ideas will be prototyped and tested with real users.
