DESCRIPTION:Looking for a more bottom-up approach to uncovering findings in your design research? Participatory Design is all about engaging people to actively participate in the design process. Join Asha Srikantiah (Kounkuey Design Initiative) in this methods-based workshop to practice identifying research objectives\, marrying it with interactive engagement\, and capturing your findings to deepen your understanding for design. \nRSVP Required – Click here to register! \n\nAsha is passionate about building new initiatives that address real human problems and is excited by spaces where design\, strategy and storytelling meet. Her love for stories led her to start her career in film and media\, with roles in creative development at Viacom\, New Line Cinema and JWT. She then pivoted her focus to use creative problem-solving for meaningful social impact. At Fidelity Labs\, she led the development and implementation of the Student Debt Relief Program to increase financial equity for borrowers through financial literacy\, employer-sponsored benefit systems\, and legislative advocacy. Most recently\, Asha was Director of Strategy at the Hive\, a creativity and design center at the Claremont Colleges\, and still teaches undergraduate classes in Human-Centered Design at Harvey Mudd College. Asha currently serves as the Managing Director of Strategy and Staff at KDI’s Los Angeles office. She has a bachelor’s degree in Film and Television from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications\, and an MBA from University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.

Led by entrepreneur and Pomona alum\, Vadim Axelrod. \nRSVP Required – Click here to register! \n\nVadim Axelrod is a Pomona College alumnus\, serial entrepreneur\, and technology leader with more than 30 years of experience building startups. After Pomona\, he earned an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University. He has co-founded multiple venture-backed startups\, helped grow Rentals.com (acquired by Primedia)\, and held leadership roles at companies including Lark Health and Ellipsis Health. Today\, he primarily builds AI startups while also advising founders on product strategy\, engineering\, and ux. When he’s not building products\, you’ll often find him playing ultimate frisbee. He is excited to return to Pomona to help students discover how quickly today’s AI tools can transform a great idea into a working prototype.
