Vietnam Health Design

The Hive Vietnam Health Design Program was initiated in 2018. The students conducted design empathy research to reframe a conservation-health issue – the production and consumption of bear bile in Northern Vietnam – from a local perspective. The student teams then designed culturally appropriate messaging and outreach to amplify the voices and knowledge of local health influencers – namely, matriarchal women. The goals of this design work are three-fold: decentralizing health knowledge, while celebrating and documenting women’s cultural health knowledge and, in turn, contributing to reducing wildlife medicine demand in Northern Vietnam.
