Choir Auditions

The Joint Music Program choirs will audition singers for Fall 2026 later in the semester and in August.

The choir program will audition sopranos, altos, tenors, and baritones/basses for the Claremont Concert Choir (MUS 173, MW 7:00-8:30 pm) and sopranos and altos for the Claremont Treble Singers (MUS 176 MW 5:30-6:45 pm). These ensemble performance courses are 0.5 CR classes (or 1.0 CR at HMC).

To organize an audition, please email Professor Kamm at ckamm@scrippscollege.edu in early April, 2026.

An audition for the choirs takes about 10 minutes and consists of vocalizing, some pitch memory ear games, singing a short tune familiar to you unaccompanied (like “Happy Birthday,” “Amazing Grace,” a national anthem, or another lyrical song of your choosing), and trying some sight singing.  No prepared piece is required beyond what is outlined above, although you may bring your own melodic piece to sing as the tune.  Successful auditionees match pitch, sing the familiar tune on key, have vocal tone appropriate to ensemble singing, and either read music or can repeat the pitch ear games well.

For more information please email the director of the choral program, Professor Kamm (ckamm@scrippscollege.edu or ckamm@hmc.edu).
