Choir Auditions

Joint Music Program auditions for Claremont Concert Choir and Claremont Treble Singers, Fall 2026, can still be held this week, August 31-September 4.  To schedule an audition, please email the director of the choral area, Professor Kamm (ckamm@scrippscollege.edu or ckamm@hmc.edu).

Currently the Claremont Treble Singers (MUS 176 JM, MW 5:30-6:45 pm) has openings for sopranos, mezzos and altos, and the Claremont Concert Choir (MUS 173 JM, MW 7:00-8:30 pm) has openings for tenors, baritones, and basses.

The choir program is auditioning singers for the Claremont Concert Choir (MUS 173, MW 7:00-8:30 pm) and the Claremont Treble Singers (MUS 176 MW 5:30-6:45 pm). These ensemble performance courses are 0.5 CR classes (= 1.0 CR at HMC).  Rehearsal classes begin on August 31.

An audition for the choirs takes about 10 minutes and consists of vocalizing, some pitch memory ear games, singing a short tune familiar to you unaccompanied (like “Happy Birthday,” “Amazing Grace,” a national anthem, or another lyrical song in any language of your choosing), and trying some sight singing.  No prepared piece is required beyond what is outlined above, although you may bring your own melodic piece to sing as the tune.  Successful auditionees match pitch, sing the familiar tune on key, have vocal tone appropriate to ensemble singing, and either read music or can repeat the pitch ear games well.

For more information please email the director of the choral area, Professor Kamm (ckamm@scrippscollege.edu or ckamm@hmc.edu).
