Recent repertoire of the Choirs

Each semester the repertoire of the choirs changes. Over the course of four years, the intention is to expose singers to a breadth of music written in choral traditions of the U.S., Europe, and throughout the world,  including music from the 15th-21st centuries, with 20th and 21st century music representing a variety of stylistic traditions, some of which are influenced by folk and popular music traditions. We sing texts written by poets and others that express a range of human experiences and a variety of texts—religious and non-religious texts, texts from Jewish and Christian faiths as well as from cultures that observe other religious traditions (taking into consideration that the concert performance of sacred musics from other traditions may be considered insensitive), secular texts that explore love and even sexuality in a variety of ways, and texts that may deal with issues of race, class, gender, or identity differences.
