Founded in 1977, the Claremont Concert Orchestra is an integral part of the Joint Music Program of Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Pitzer, and Scripps Colleges. The orchestra’s mission is to provide students with the opportunity to perform symphonic works from the mid-18th century through the present within a liberal arts environment.
The Claremont Concert Orchestra serves students with varying degrees of musical expertise, and is complemented by community members and professional musicians from the Los Angeles area. Some student members of the orchestra pursue music majors or minors. Many others, however, major in other areas and are passionate about continuing to develop their musical skills through symphonic playing in a friendly and non-competitive environment.
