Mission Statement and Student Learning Outcomes

 

  1. To provide students with the skills to navigate and contribute to a global discourse in the realm of contemporary media in a manner mindful of best practices and ethical considerations.
  2. To attain mastery of the fundamental concepts and vocabulary used in the study and production of media. To have a clear understanding of the history of media industries, formats, and movements. To be able to demonstrate the ability to analyze media in formal, critical, and cultural dimensions. 
  3. To empower students with the skills to express and produce their own visual and written work, while striving to advocate for the expression of marginalized perspectives and the circulation of those representations in a just way. To be able to demonstrate the ability to conceptualize, develop, and realize media productions in both technical and aesthetic aspects. 
  4. To bridge history and theory to production, providing students with an academic foundation based on historical and contemporary trends in media practices. 
  5. To prepare students for work in media related endeavors such as filmmaking, directing, producing, writing, editing, journalism and more with consciousness of ethical best practices.
