PRODUCTION CENTER

About the Production Center

The Mosbacher/Gartrell Center for Media Experimentation and Activism at Pitzer College is a professional standard post-production facility. Students have access to a wide range of the latest imaging, editing, animation, sound and graphics software.

Students have 24 hour/7 day a week access to ten private editing rooms, on Mac-based fully equipped editing systems. We primarily use Adobe’s Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition) as the main software suite.

Multiple formats of professional quality video and film cameras (SD, HD, and 16mm formats) accompanied by a full complement of lighting and analog and digital sound equipment, a 16mm telecine, and sounds effects are available for student projects. We feature an unusually high camera/student ratio where students are almost always able to have access to the equipment they desire.

The Production Center also has a screening lounge where students can watch films and videos on a large screen. It’s a creative environment where some production classes are taught, and software workshops are held. Visiting artists and senior critiques also take place in the screening room.

Student workers from the five Claremont Colleges participate in all of aspects of direction and operation of the Production Center.
