Elizabeth Affuso has been with Pitzer since 2011, serving as both a faculty member and Academic Director of Media Studies.

Elizabeth’s scholarly interests include issues of spectatorship, fandom, branding, technology, social media, celebrity, and consumer culture. She is the co-editor (with Suzanne Scott) of Sartorial Fandom: Fashion, Beauty Culture, and Identity (2023).  Her work has appeared in scholarly journals including JumpCut and Film Criticism, where she co-edited the special issue on “Films and Merchandise” (2018) with Avi Santo. She has published chapters in edited collections including Documenting Fashion (ed. Elena Caoduro and Boel Ulfsdotter, 2023), Point of Sale: Analyzing Media Retail (ed. Daniel Herbert and Derek Johnson, 2019), and The Routledge Companion to Media Fandom (ed. Melissa Click and Suzanne Scott, 2018).

Elizabeth earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Critical Studies at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Cinema Studies and Fine Art at New York University.

Eddie Gonzalez has been part of the Pitzer family for many years. ​Beginning as a student, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Studies and Art from Pitzer College in 2004. In 2004, Eddie joined Pitzer as staff and now serves as the Assistant Director of Production for Media Studies. Eddie is a Pomona-based artist whose work has included video, silk-screening, and graphic design.

Since graduating from Syracuse University, Josué braids theatre, poetry, and  filmmaking to create channels for communication and intergenerational dialogue.  Josué has worked with IE Solstice Theatre, the the National Museum of the American Latino, Arts Connection, The Cheech Center for Chicano Art, El Teatro Campesino, ACLU SoCal, and others to craft counterstories and inspire storytellers. Josué’s recent media literacy work has manifested into a collaborative project with the Inland Empire Journalism and Innovation Hub + Fund to use puppets to teach mindful media in schools across the Inland Empire.

Josué loves gathering with the community around medicinal media/words; they published their first book of poetry, Xicane Soup From Le Soul, with World Stage Press.
