Welcome to the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program at the Claremont Colleges!

We support the intellectual and professional development of MMUF fellows at the Claremont Colleges as they prepare for application to and success in doctoral programs. In so doing, MMUF is committed to broadening the range of scholarly perspectives in the US academy, with a focus on the humanities and the humanistic social sciences.

MMUF was established in 1988 and has supported more than 1,100 fellows in earning their PhD. Through a pipeline process that emphasizes mentoring, research support, programming, and student cohort building, the Mellon Foundation partners with member colleges and universities to identify and support students of great promise and to help them become scholars and professionals of the highest distinction.
