FAQ’s

What are Club Sports?

5C Club Sports offers instructional and competitive teams to the Claremont College community. About 28 different teams are offered and about 700 participants play each year. Practices are generally between 2-4 times per week, and vary by club and your schedule.  Club sports are student run organizations; student officers such as presidents, treasurers, equipment managers play a critical role in running each club.
One of the main goals of the program is to provide students with the opportunity for recreation as an outlet from academic endeavors.

What is the difference between Club Sports and Intramural Sports?

Club Sport practices, meetings, competitions and fundraisers are led by club officers and club members. Club Sports practice multiple times per week and travel to compete against other schools’ club sport teams. Intramural Sports consist of Pomona & Pitzer students, faculty and staff that compete against each other in organized leagues developed through Pomona Campus Recreation.

Who organizes the programs?

Students play a significant role in the administration of the 5C Club Sports Program. In collaboration with the CMS and Pomona  Athletics for oversight,  student leaders of each club handle many of the logistical details on a club by club basis.

How much does if cost?

Club dues vary by club and go directly towards club operating needs. In most cases, dues are low. If dues create a large barrier for participation, please contact the club leaders.

How do I join a Club Sport team?

Step 1 is to reach out to clubs via Engage to let the club leaders know your interest. Step 2 is to attend the Club Fair held the second week of school, here you will be able to meet with club leaders and learn more information. Every participant must complete and sign a Club Sport Waiver of Liability form prior to participation.
