Most things around you are made, designed and built. But HOW?!
Learn the basics of construction and woodworking, and in the process find a new appreciation for the objects around you!
Over the course of three workshops you’ll learn the basics of woodworking: dividing combining and manipulating. In the process of creating free form wood sculptures, you’ll learn vital skills for any woodworking project. You’ll also gain access to the power tools in the hive’s multi-media make space, the Toolbox, and be well on your way to becoming you’re own handyperson!! Start turning your wildest ideas into tangible realities!
Skill Share #1: Dividing (March 22nd)
This session will introduce you to a variety of cutting methods, and some useful strategies for getting started on a building project.
Skill Share #2: Combining (March 29th)
In this session we’ll teach you to effectively combine pieces of wood – your wood joints will look great and be able to hold your weight!
Skill Share #3 Manipulation (TBA in April)
In our last sessions, we’ll explore decorating and finishing our wooden structures. From staining to stamping, no method of decoration is off limits!
