Areas of Concentration

Claremont enjoys a world-wide reputation in certain activities and programs carried on at institutions of the Consortium. There are several areas of concentration which are a natural for CCMS initiatives, areas for which Claremont is well-known. These areas are: Quantitative and Computational Life Sciences, Mathematics in Industry, Financial Engineering and Mathematics, Mathematics/Science Education, and Decision Science. The CCMS will enhance the work in these areas of concentration by combining the collaborative efforts and talents of individuals throughout the Consortium. Work in these areas is supported by seminar series held during the academic year. The mathematics departments of the Consortium have long recognized the importance of collaborative student-faculty research, both during the academic year and in the summer. These areas of concentration are not mutually exclusive; student-faculty research plays an important role in all of them.
