During the Spring of 2023, Claremont Faculty Leadership Program (CFLP) showcased its successful implementation at the ACDA conference for academic leaders. Conference participants explored a collaborative model for building an effective in-house faculty leadership development program. They learned how to leverage institutional resources, received institution-focused leadership training, and established valuable networking connections. The presentation highlighted CFLP’s curriculum, which included workshops, a book/journal club, and a two-day conference where fellows engaged in activities and conversations with senior leaders. Topics covered included crisis management, diversity, equity, inclusion, mindfulness in leadership, self-assessment, and addressing challenges and opportunities. The presentation shared the program’s history, lessons learned over the past four years, and strategies for developing and sustaining an in-house leadership development program. Participants had the opportunity to experience simulated core components of the CFLP, reflect on their own institutional needs, and leave with inspired ideas for creating their tailored leadership programs based on desired outcomes and institutional priorities.
