The Soundbox is a recording space adjacent to Studio 1. The studio can be used to record music, podcasts, and other audio projects.

Makingspace Workshops + Mentor Sessions Appointment Booking

Students can sign up for Makingspace Workshops and/or Mentor Sessions to receive training, allowing them to use the SoundBox independently. Each session lasts 2 hours, allowing students to practice as much as they want. Students are encouraged to arrive at the start of the Mentor Session, but staying for the whole 2 hours is not required.

OPEN HOURS (RSVP REQUIRED):

The Hive’s Sound Box “open” hours are for students who have completed the necessary training via our Makingspace Workshops and/or Mentor Sessions and have demonstrated their knowledge of the methods and procedures outlined by the Sound Box.

During open hours, students can work on their projects without proctored supervision for specific blocks of time. Students are allowed to reserve the space in 30-minute time blocks. These students are responsible for leaving the Sound Box in a condition better than they found it.

Soundbox reservation times are default open sessions (people who want to come in and create are welcome to do so). If you would like a private session, please indicate that in your description.

GENERAL RULES:

1. Leave the space better than you found it!
2. Users must receive training and a complete Soundbox ID before using the Soundbox independently.
3. Be considerate of what’s going on in the Hive before turning up the speakers.
4. Up to 5 guests are welcome per one trained user, who must always be in the space during use.
5. No food/drink other than water!
6. While closing, double-check that all equipment is in the Soundbox and that the door is locked.
