BioMap (BioArt) Sample Collection Event

April 16, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Pomona student Iren Coşkun has been hard at work figuring out how to create a bio-art project involving biology, identity, 3D printing and the Hive!

It’s all very cool, so we suggest you get involved – something you can do as simply as by sticking your thumb-print in some agar.

More details from the poster:

“We want to create a world map, a “BioMap,” using fingerprint samples from 5C students to emphasize the importance of our microbiota, the concept of identity, and diversity! We will plant the microorganisms from your fingerprint samples to any location that has shaped your identity on our agar jelly world map. We will then display our BioMap at the Hive. Check out the sample collection dates below and come be a part of this amazing “live” art work!”

Sample collection event at the Hive:
Tuesday, April 16 from 6:30-8pm.

Other sample collection dates on campus:
11:30 am at Frary on 4/11 &
11:30am at Frank on 4/18.

Final art and process talk/exhibition at the Hive – Wednesday, May 1, 6:30-8pm.

See the cover photo (poster) for more details.
