Creative Careers for Social and Environmental Good

How might design be harnessed to improve humanity and the environment? Join our virtual panel to learn from some inspiring designers in action! You’ll come away with ideas for careers and tools to integrate design into your career pursuits.

Trinh Thuy Phan
Head of Communications and Public Awareness of Animals Asia in Vietnam.
During her 13 years working in NGO- conservation sector, Trinh always believes in create the ideas which the people want and tries to understand the target audience in order to find ways to persuade them to stop doing harm to animals, more specifically not to use bear bile. Her work helps her see many magical changes from captive bears being extracted bile years in cages into the beautiful, happy, healthy bears living worry-free at Animals Asia’s Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre.

Piyali Sircar
Senior UX Researcher, One Drop and Design Researcher, The Greenish Project. 
Piyali is a UX Researcher at One Drop, a chronic health management platform, where she conducts qualitative research to identify user needs and validate solutions to meet those needs. After hours she has been working on The Greenish Project, a modern day “Greenbook,” which aims to establish a standard duty of care for Black consumers and reimagine the relationship between consumers and businesses. Piyali has a research by design practice and is interested in better understanding the relationship between science and indigenous wisdom and growing mushrooms from coffee!

Adriana Carías
Adriana is a Landscape Design Associate at Kounkuey Design Initiative or KDI, a community development and design nonprofit based in Los Angeles. She is passionate about applying her design experience to help communities in need, marrying a thorough participatory process with an end product that meets all users’ needs. Adriana provides design support for a range of KDI projects including their Productive Public Spaces and gender-inclusive urban design.
