Podcasting Workshops

Everyone and their mother has a podcast these days. Maybe you’ve even thought of making your own. Come try for yourself in a low-stakes, collaborative environment!

Join us for a series of three workshops exploring the podcast creation process and the technical and interpersonal skills it requires. Each workshop will introduce technical skills (using a mic, storyboarding, audio software) and their respective real-world corollary (empathetic listening, narrative storytelling, clear communication). These workshops will give you the tools necessary to understand, create, and share the stories around you.

All workshops build towards one final product — a collaborative podcast created by all participants. But you should feel free to come to as many as you like.

Workshop #1: The Interview – Empathetic Listening and Recording Confidence
In the first workshop, we will provide technical recording knowledge, while exploring the power of listening and being listened to. We will learn how to use microphones and practice recording interviews!

Workshop #2: Storyboarding – Creating Compelling Narratives
In the second of three workshops, we will collaboratively create a podcast “prototype” and delve into different forms of communicating and storytelling. We will listen to the interviews recorded in the first workshop and collaboratively engage with the process of creating a cohesive narrative from them.

Workshop #3: Audio Editing – Make it Sound Good
In the last of the three workshops, we will learn the skills needed to craft crisp, professional sound, turning our initial prototype into a captivating podcast you’d be proud to have your name on.
